Banana Blossom also known as (banana's heart) is a very rich source of nutrition. It is a reddish-skinned flower which is grown at the end of the banana cluster/bunch. It is very common and widely used in the south indian cuisine.
In this recipe I have explained in detail how to make banana blossom and in notes section I have explained in detail how to grate, clean & wash it properly.
I love to have banana blossom stir fry with steamed rice or else I love to have it alone that is without steamed rice and other curries.

Ingredients:
Mustard Seeds: 1 tsp
Urad Dal: 1 tsp
Red Chilli (Whole): 3 to 4 (Broken)
Grated Coconut: 1/2 cup (Fresh)
Banana Blossom: 1 (Properly cleaned, washed and grated)
Oil: 1 tbsp
Salt as needed/As per taste.

Method:
Step 1) In a kadai heat 1 tbsp oil then add 1 tsp mustard seeds, let it splutter then add 1 tsp urad dal and 3 to 4 broken whole red chillis and mix well.

Step 2) Now add properly cleaned, washed and finely grated banana blossom and mix well then add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt, mix well properly and then cover it with a lid, let it cook properly for 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 3) After it cooks properly then add 1/2 cup grated coconut and mix well . Again cover with a lid for 2 to 3 minutes.

Yummy & Delicious Banana Blossom Stir Fry is ready!!

Step 4) Serve hot with steamed rice as a side dish with Sambhar or any other South Indian (Kerala) curry.

Notes:
1. How to grate banana blossom ?
Take a banana blossom peel off its red skin/petals till its yellowish-white section appears then grate it properly with a grater or you can grate it finely with a knife.

2. How to clean & wash banana blossom ?
To clean & wash banana blossom in a vessel take water add finely grated banana blossom with a pinch of turmeric powder. Stir it well with small stick (a kind of thin stick) so that if there is some dirt or any other thing it could be removed. After 5 to 10 minutes drain off the water and keep aside.
