Ingredients:
1. Kadala/Black Chickpeas/Kala Chana - 200gms
2. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
3. Red Chilli Powder  - 1tsp
4. Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
5. Onion - 1
6. Oil - 2 tbsp 
7. Water - 1 cup
8. Salt as needed 

Method:
Step 1) Rinse and soak black chickpeas in 2 cups water overnight. 

Step 2) Pressure cook black chickpeas with water and salt for 10 whistles.
Open the pressure cooker lid once the pressure has reduced. 

Step 3) For Roasting Grated Coconut:
Dry roast the grated coconut in medium flame.
Let it turn brown in colour then add coriander powder roast for 2 minutes and then add red chilli powder.
Combine well.
Keep aside and let it cool completely.

Step 4) For Grinding Coconut Paste:
Grind the roasted coconut mixture with little water and make it a fine paste.

Step 5) In a kadai heat 2 tbsp oil add finely chopped onion fry it well till it turns brown in colour. 

Step 6) Finally add the boiled black chickpeas mix well for a minute then add the grinded coconut paste mix well and let it boil for 5 minutes. 

Delicious Kadala Curry Ready!!

Step 7) Serve hot with Puttu, Roti, Appam.
