Spinach (palak) is a green leafy vegetable which is very high in protein and good source of nutrition. Typically dal palak is mostly a common dish, but this is a different version as everyone has their own style of making dal palak. The key ingredient of this dal palak is (pigeon pea, spinach & onion). This recipe of dal palak is very easy to make and if you prefer a simple/plain rice platter do combine it with this curry you will definitely love it.

Ingredients:
Palak: 1 bunch (fresh, cleaned, washed & finely chopped)
Pigeon Pea (Tuvar Dal): 1 cup
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder: 1 tsp
Onion: 1 (medium size, finely chopped)
Oil: 1 tbsp
Water: 1 cup
Salt as required
Method:
Step 1) In a pressure cooker add properly washed and drained 1 cup tuvar dal with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1 cup water. Pressure cook it for 1 to 3 whistles, open the lid once the pressure is settled down.
Step 2) Now open the pressure cooker lid and if required add little water and let it boil after a minute add fresh and finely chopped spinach (palak) with little salt, mix well and let it boil for another 5 minutes on medium flame.
For Tempering:
In a kadai heat 1 tbsp oil then add finely chopped onion, saute well till it turns translucent and light brown in colour then add 1 tsp red chilli powder and mix well for a minute and finally pour it over the curry.
Delicious Dal Palak is ready!!
Step 5) Serve hot with steamed rice.
